Mark Matson

Founder / CEO

Since founding Matson Money in 1991, Mark has taken a courageous stand to help investors discover their true purpose for life and for money. He is the source of the Matson Method, the innovator of Mind Over Money, and the leader of the American Dream Experience—all of which equip advisors and investors with the truth so that they can make sound and educated choices about their financial future. Mark’s unrelenting message is to begin with a purpose greater than money and then apply prudent investing strategies and free market principles towards the fulfillment of that purpose. He has shared this message as an author, producer, and on hundreds of TV appearances as a frequently sought after financial commentator. Mark received his Bachelor’s degree in Business with a major in Finance and Accounting from Miami University. He is an avid cyclist, serves on the board of directors of several charities, and resides with his beautiful wife, Melissa, in Scottsdale, Arizona, where Matson Money is headquartered. Together, Mark and Melissa are the blessed parents of eight children.

Married to Mark Matson for the past twelve years, Melissa joined Matson Money in 2018 to help him lead the American Dream Experience. She is a Vice President at Matson Money and also serves as the President of the Matson Family Foundation, an organization devoted to causing and supporting acts of kindness, both big and small, that change the world for the better. Melissa holds a degree in physical therapy from the University of Cincinnati. She is an avid cyclist who loves traveling and cycling with her husband, wherever they happen to be.

Chief Compliance Officer

Dan has been with Matson Money since August 1994. Over the years, Dan has performed and defined the standards for every role in the Investment Services realm. He continuously provides research, portfolio design, returns auditing, compliance advice, and data for sales support. Dan's dedication to Matson Money shows up in long hours and impressive results. Dan graduated cum laude from Eastern Michigan University with a BA in Finance and Economics. He is currently working toward his CFA charter. Dan enjoys spending time with his daughter.

Michelle Matson

Vice President, Marketing / Coach

Michelle has been with Matson Money since 1992. From operations to marketing to management to training, Michelle has done it all. She is known for her ability to conceive creative solutions. Currently, she is responsible for the marketing and publishing aspects of Matson Money, as well as overseeing projects related to training and web development. In spring of 2009, Michelle published the book, Rich Chick: The 9 Must-Have Accessories Every Girl Needs To Create Financial Confidence, Independence, And Freedom... The Smart Way. She frequently speaks on the topic of women and investing all over the country. When she's not at work, Michelle loves to spend time with her husband, Matt, and their three wonderful daughters.

Josh joined the Matson Money team in January 2015 as part of his undergraduate cooperative education program at Cincinnati State. He quickly developed an unyielding belief in the Matson Money philosophy and a passion for spreading the message of prudent investing and efficient markets, leading to a full time position as an Adviser Coach. Josh brings with him five years of sales leadership experience and has always had a passion for coaching and teamwork, which stemmed from his life-long dedication to football. As Captain of his high school football team and receiving a scholarship to the University of Charleston, he always dreamed of going into the NFL. While that dream didn’t come to fruition due to an injury, Josh will tell you that it was one of the best things that ever happened to him, because now he has found his true calling. Outside of work Josh enjoys playing basketball, spending time with his family and traveling.

Rick joined Matson Money in 2006 as a member of the coaching team. Throughout the growth of the company he has taken on many different roles and grown both personally and professionally. He has been an integral part in the growth of the Investment Services team and was the leader for 401k plans and MRI development. He is now the Vice President of Operations, helping to develop the team in size and scope to provide world-class service to our clients and advisors. He is the blessed father of two children, he spends his free time with them hiking, playing sports, and being a supportive "Cheer Dad."

Donn Burrows

Documentarian & Investigative Reporter

Donn has been with Matson Money since 1993. He has directed the award winning documentaries, Navigating the Fog of Investing and How the Really Smart Money Invests: A Brief History of Investing. He has also directed documentaries for television and home video entertainment distribution. Donn has received two Emmy Awards for excellence in reporting while working on ABC and NBC television affiliates and hosting daily radio shows in Cincinnati. When Donn isn't working he enjoys watching sports, movies and coaching girls high school varsity basketball team. Donn loves spending time with his wife, daughter, son and grandchildren.

Our academic board of advisors

We have sought individuals who support and exemplify the core values of Matson Money. Each of them is exceptional in their field and brings a new dimension of expertise to our organization. Their areas of study and skill address many different aspects of what it means to be an investor and how to leverage the power of free markets.

Members of our Academic Advisory Board provide an internal structure for researching and validating academic theories as they apply to investing. They make frequent appearances at both Matson Money coaching and investor events. This gives our clients a direct connection to some of the most well-respected and published experts in the fields of economics, investing and statistics.

Academic Advisory Board members receive compensation from Matson Money for their services, and in exchange, provide independent consulting services to Matson Money leadership, co-author white papers, appear on Matson Money webcasts, and make speeches at Matson Money conferences.
